Fire Magic Demonstrations
Come and watch the magical patterns created by fire, smoke and heat: 4 types of Raku firing demonstrations open to the public between 11 and 3.30
Obvara - otherwise known as Baltic Raku: The immediate drama that dipping a hot pot into fermented liquid creates, browns, blacks and golds emerge in unpredictable patterns.
Two step naked raku - the dramatic black and white patterns created by resist slip on burnished white pieces
Horsehair raku - watch delicate feathers and horsehair curl burn themselves into patterns on ceramics
Glaze raku - see the emerging crackles, colour changes and smoke effects on glazes as they are carefully cleaned after the reduction bins.
