Takuro Kuwata Gallery Late + Makers' Market, Warwick Arts Centre
Warwick Arts Centre’s Gallery Late is back for another eclectic evening of music and creativity, amongst Takuro Kuwata’s striking ceramic sculptures.
Explore the Mead Gallery after hours and enjoy performances by a range of independent musicians from across the Midlands, as well as a special ceramics-focused Makers Market featuring talented local ceramicists.
We’re thrilled to be joined by Birmingham-based artist Rosie Tee, presenting an immersive duo set in collaboration with musician Piera Onacko. Weaving a distinctive blend of electronica, psych, and avant-pop, Tee’s work layers synthesizers with manipulated vocals, pedals and percussion to conjure technicolor soundscapes that sit at the experimental edges of songwriting.
Electronic musician Dan Cippico, aka Wildforms, will perform his distinctive blend of nature-sourced field recordings mixed with synthetic sounds. A recent recipient of the Tune Into Nature Music Prize, his work “...inspires hope through our connection with the natural world” (Professor Miles Richardson).
Expect an intimate solo set from singer-songwriter and composer May Chi, whose introspective songwriting blends classical elements and ambient production techniques to create sound worlds listeners can get momentarily lost in.
Alongside the music we’re excited to be joined again by local visual artists Glitch Liquid Lights. Using innovative techniques combining liquid colour-mixing and live coding, they generate distinctive psychedelic visuals and project them around the Gallery to provide a uniquely immersive light show.

Meet Nicole Flack: Shaking Up Norwich’s Ceramics Scene, One Mug at a Time
Nicole Flack, creator of the brand-new Norwich Ceramics Market, is on a mission: to bring cool, handmade pottery out of the stuffy gallery and into the hands of everyone in Norwich. Originally born in London, Nicole moved to Norfolk with her family as a child — and her roots here run deep, along with her passion for making ceramics accessible, fun, and full of personality.
In the underground indie ceramics scene, Nicole is already well-known as the founder of the hugely popular Norwich Makers Market, a celebration of indie makers and small businesses that’s earned a loyal following. But Nicole isn’t just a champion of other creatives — she’s a ceramic artist herself, crafting quirky, dinosaur-inspired clay pieces under the name Cretaceous Creations (find her on Instagram here). Her signature Pliosaur mugs have even become a cult collectors’ item among pottery fans.
“I wanted to shake off the idea that ceramics are delicate or intimidating,” Nicole says. “Pottery should be playful, punk, and part of everyday life — and Norwich is the perfect place to share that with people.”
If you’ve noticed more people hunting for handmade mugs and dinosaur pots lately, you’re not alone. The surge in popularity has a lot to do with the hit TV show The Great Pottery Throw Down, which turned the humble pottery wheel into must-watch TV — and inspired thousands to get their hands muddy too. Meanwhile, shoppers are turning away from mass-produced homeware in favour of small-batch, local, and handmade.
Nicole’s new project is all about championing this movement. Through the Homegrown Pottery Society — her tongue-in-cheek name for the community of makers she’s gathered — she’s shining a light on the side of pottery you won’t find in big stores: indie, imaginative, and proudly local. Expect mugs, bowls, plates and pots alongside dinosaurs, mythical beasts, and playful clay creations you’ll want to take home.
“I love that Norwich already has such a thriving indie ceramics community,” Nicole says. “There’s so much talent here, but not always enough spaces for makers to reach new people. This market is about giving them that chance — and helping more people find something unique to treasure.”
The very first Norwich Ceramics Market takes place at The Forum on Sunday 7th December, with dozens of local potters ready to help you find your next favourite mug — or maybe your first weird clay dinosaur. Whether you’re a collector, a curious shopper, or just after something that makes your morning brew more joyful, Nicole promises this is the place to find it.
Artist applications close on Aug 10th: apply here.

Leeds Ceramic Fair
From the Northern Potters Association, a new small, but hopefully to grow, ceramic fair in the Leeds area.
It is to be held inside the lovely HEART Arts Space in Headingley. Planning for this event is at an early stage but it is hoped there will be space for about 20 potters. They are going to try and concentrate on potters from the Leeds area to begin with as very little NPA activity has happened here over the last few years.
Cost is £35.00 for NPA members, for a 6′ table.
And £45.00 for non-NPA participants.
For more information, or interest in this event please contact Alison Young (lead organiser) or Sylvia Schroer (east coordinator) at east@northern-potters.co.uk

Ceramics in the City, London
Museum of the Home's annual market celebrating the world of ceramics, showcasing everything from functional tableware to decorative objects and unique collector's pieces.
Sunken Studio Ceramics Market, Leeds
First Sunday of the quarter | 11:00–15:00
(March, June, September, December)
Led by current members of Sunken Studio, these Ceramics Markets are an opportunity to explore the work being made in Leeds.
The markets are coordinated by the makers who make this place special: many of whom joined through their courses and have continued to explore clay on their own terms. Not everyone is turning their practice into a business. Most are pursuing this as a side quest that’s affirming and slow: an antidote to the fast - often frictionless - pace of contemporary life. You’ll meet makers refining techniques, testing glazes, or working through a particular form or idea. What unites them is a shared enthusiasm for making, and the atmosphere of shared stewardship that Sunken Studio supports.
Markets at Sunken Studio reflect that same spirit. You’ll find small-batch, one-off pieces that are thoughtful, personal, and often quietly experimental. For most, it’s about process, working with intent, and the delight of making something from scratch. Leaving suble marks on a pot, person, or place.
You’re welcome to drop in, browse, ask questions, or just have a nosy.
December’s market will also feature Small Matters: a showcase of miniature ceramic works. An exercise in being small but mighty: playful, abstract, precise, or quietly sentimental.

British Ceramics Biennial 2025 Programme
Award
British Ceramics Biennial’s headline exhibition celebrates the vitality of contemporary ceramics practice in the UK, with 10 artists selected from an open submission process to present ambitious new work and compete for the £10,000 BCB Award Prize. The 2025 Award artists are Kyra Cane, Fernando Casasempere, Noor Ali Chagani & Clio Lloyd-Jacob, Susan Hall, Leah Jensen, Charlotte Moore, Jane Perryman, Alison Rees, Daniel Silver and Jo Taylor. Award is the leading platform for contemporary ceramic practice in the UK.
Awarded
After winning the BCB Award Prize at the 2023 British Ceramics Biennial, Mella Shaw returns with a new work interrogating a little-known contribution to the global climate crisis. In this installation, large hand-built ceramic structures and dramatic lighting will explore the ethics and impact of harvesting polymetallic modules from the sea bed for use in electronics.
Fresh
The Fresh exhibition celebrates and promotes the new wave of artists working in clay. Twenty-five early career artists from the UK and Ireland are selected to take part, with four Fresh Talent Prizes given out during the Biennial. The 25 artists will be announced in the summer.
Fresh Talent
During the 2023 Biennial, five Fresh Talent Prizes were given to artists from Fresh, which included residencies with University of Staffordshire, Guldagergaard International Ceramics Research Center, Grymsdyke Farm, BCB Studio and Bolesławiec Cultural Centre . The artists showing the outcome of their residencies are Tim Fluck, Caroline Gray, Andrea Leigh, Chi Onwordi and Krzysztof Strzelecki.
People & Place Commission
BCB’s People & Place Commission sees artist Josie KO exploring the role of Black women in Stoke-on-Trent in The Chimney Princess. Inspired by the shape of Stoke-on-Trent’s iconic bottle kilns, Josie KO will create a new goddess for the city in collaboration with local communities. Standing five feet tall and hand built from black clay, the deity figure will be displayed ‘dancing’ on a spinning turntable in an installation setting inspired by Stoke-on-Trent’s Trentham Gardens.
Playscape
This experimental rammed earth architecture project is a response to learning that the central area of Stoke town currently lacks adequate children’s play facilities. Playscape is a collaboration between BCB Associate Artist Sarah Fraser, Tuckey Design Studio, rammed earth construction specialist Sami Akkach and University of Staffordshire Architecture students that will transform construction clay spoil into a children’s play space. Following a pilot phase, a temporary playscape environment will be shown at the Biennial, to test and inform an ambition to create a permanent rammed earth playscape for Stoke town. During BCB, families will be able to engage with the project and the rammed earth process in the engagement space.
Raverina’s Dance Floor
This interactive, sensory art installation by Portuguese artist Carolina Garfo is inspired by the ceramic practices of the Algarve and explores the intersection between sound and ceramics. The installation features a wave pool initiating a sound artwork with a projection of the artist’s fictional documentary film, ‘Raverina’.
Clay Films
This new element of the Biennial programme is an open submission opportunity for Global Majority artists of African and Caribbean heritage based anywhere in the world who work in film and clay. A panel of film experts, artists and curators will select 10 works for screening. Clay Films has been devised to reflect the expanding range of ways that artists work with clay, in this case showcasing the high quality of artist film work being made – an area of practice which has to date received limited exposure.
Ceramic Cities Exchange international partnership
This creative exchange programme connects Stoke-on-Trent with Bolesławiec, Poland – two cities sharing a rich ceramic heritage. The exchange will be captured in a film presented at the 2025 Biennial. Ceramic Cities Exchange is part of the British Council UK Poland Season 2025. BCB’s partnership with The Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec supports six artists aged 18–24 to gain international exposure and explore how ceramics heritage informs contemporary practice.
Clay Conference: From Waste to Resource: Circular Economies For Construction Clay Spoil
This conference, taking place on 2 October, forms a key part of British Ceramic Biennial’s 19-month research initiative focused on the creative re-use of construction clay spoil. The project explores the opportunities and challenges of re-using clay sourced from UK construction spoil across a range of scales – from individual artists and local communities to large-scale industrial applications.
Led by Claire Baily, a London-based artist, researcher and educator, the conference will present the research findings and build on its ideas through presentations, panel discussions and keynote speeches.
Slip Tales
Part of BCB’s year-round programme working with community groups in Stoke-on-Trent, Slip Tales is an exploration and appreciation of the history and heritage of Staffordshire slipware, which originated in the mid-17th century as elaborately decorated dishes with a distinctive application of the surface pattern design. The participants have created contemporary interpretations of slipware for this project, learning new clay skills and processes and exploring materials. By bringing people together in a creative setting, this collective, positive process supports the building of community cohesion and support networks. Their contemporary interpretations will be shown at the Biennial.
